On Tuesday 10th June and Wednesday 11th June, young musicians from St Augustine’s Catholic Academy and St Maria Goretti Catholic Academy took part in two musical events celebrating the Stoke100 Centenary.
City Music Service in Stoke-on-Trent put on two enormous mass performance days at the prestigious Victoria Hall in Stoke-on-Trent. Tuesday was the Big Sing and Wednesday was the Big Play, where the young musicians performed alongside the fabulous Royal Birmingham Conservatoire LEAP Ensemble.
It was also fantastic to see some young people who started learning their instruments through In Harmony and have continued learning at their secondary schools, demonstrating the impact the programme is having on young people’s lives.
Here is some feedback from families who attended the events:
Just to say that I thought the concert on Wedneday was absolutely superb! A real special event for the students to be part of and shows what a fantastic Music Service we have! Well done to you and everyone involved!
*I wasn’t sure what to expect last night, but we really enjoyed it. The children did so well, and it was lovely to see the teachers playing alongside each group and helping those who were struggling. It was like watching lots of little families joining in together. That was my favourite thing! It was a really enjoyable evening. Thank you to everyone for all the effort that has been put in over the last weeks.*
Tonight’s concert was fabulous – what a fantastic opportunity to play with such talented musicians. Thank you City Music Service for this brilliant opportunity for our young people.
